Description

Soft, chewy, and brimming with chocolatey goodness, these banana chocolate chip bars are the perfect balance of natural sweetness and indulgence. A must-try for any banana bread lover!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Stir in melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips, reserving a handful for topping.
  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Use Ripe Bananas: Overripe bananas with lots of brown spots are best for this recipe. They add natural sweetness and make the bars extra moist.
  • Don’t Overmix the Batter: Stir just until the ingredients are combined. Overmixing can make the bars dense and tough instead of soft and chewy.
  • Cool Completely Before Cutting: Allow the bars to cool in the pan to set properly. Cutting them too soon can cause them to crumble. Patience is key!
