Ingredients
- 20–25 grapes, washed and completely dried
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- White gel food coloring
- Other gel colors of your choice (neon pink and sky blue suggested)
- 2 teaspoons flavored oil (e.g., vanilla or citrus)
- Sprinkles for decorating (optional)
Instructions
- Prep: Insert a skewer into each grape and set aside.
- Cook: In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook over medium to high heat until the mixture reaches 300°F (149°C), using a candy thermometer to monitor.
- Color: Remove from heat and stir in white gel food coloring and flavored oil. Add 3-4 drops of other colors and swirl.
- Coat: Dip grapes into the mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Optionally, roll in sprinkles.
- Dry: Place on parchment paper or a silicone mat to dry for 15 minutes, or refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Notes
Grapes must be completely dry for candy coating to stick.
Use a candy thermometer to avoid under- or over-cooking the syrup.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Do not refrigerate after coating; it may cause the shell to soften.
Gel food coloring is preferred for vibrant color without thinning the syrup.
Handle hot syrup with care—it’s extremely hot and can burn skin.
