Ingredients
- 1/2 pound chopped bacon
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon Hamburger Seasoning (1 tablespoon paprika/ 1 ¼ teaspoons salt/ 1 teaspoon ground black pepper/ ½ teaspoon brown sugar/ ½ teaspoon garlic powder/ ½ teaspoon onion powder/ ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper)
- 12 ounces Velveeta, cubed
- 1 (13.8 ounce) thin crust pizza dough (I used Pillsbury)
- 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar jack cheese
- Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-low heat until crisp. Remove and set aside. Drain most of the grease.
- In the same skillet, add onions and ground beef. Cook until onions are soft and beef is cooked through. Drain excess liquid.
- Return skillet to low heat. Add bacon, steak seasoning, and Velveeta. Stir until cheese melts.
- Roll out pizza dough on the baking sheet. Spread meat mixture on top, leaving an inch at the edges. Sprinkle with cheddar jack cheese.
- Roll up the dough, starting with the long sides. Pinch to seal. Bake seam side down for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- For the sauce, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Serve with sliced bread.
Notes
Let the Dough Rest: Ensure the pizza dough is at room temperature before rolling it out. This makes it easier to handle and prevents it from snapping back, allowing for a thinner, more consistent base.
Pre-cook Moist Ingredients: To avoid a soggy crust, pre-cook ingredients that release water, like vegetables, before adding them to the dough. This step ensures the bread stays crispy and delicious.
Seal Edges Tightly: After rolling your bread with the fillings, make sure to pinch the edges tightly to seal. This prevents the filling from leaking out during baking and helps maintain the bread’s shape, ensuring a perfect presentation.
