  • Author: Olivia Hartwellen
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 10 1x

Description

This creamy, cheesy, and flavor-packed dip is perfect for parties, game days, or casual gatherings. Loaded with Tex-Mex flair, it’s a crowd-pleaser that disappears fast!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 (16 oz) cans refried beans
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup cooked ground beef or chorizo
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (for heat)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sour cream, refried beans, diced green chiles, and taco seasoning until well combined. Use a hand mixer for extra smoothness.
  • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Mexican blend cheese over the top. Add optional toppings like jalapeños or ground beef for more flavor.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the dip is hot and bubbly, and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese on top. Return to the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts perfectly.
  • Serve hot with tortilla chips, pita chips, or crunchy veggies.

Notes

  • Make it Ahead: Texas Trash Dip can be prepared a day in advance. Assemble the ingredients, cover, and refrigerate. Bake it right before serving for a fresh, hot dip.
  • Adjust the Heat: For a spicier dip, add jalapeños, hot sauce, or spicy taco seasoning. If serving kids or those sensitive to heat, stick to mild ingredients.
  • Serving Tip: Keep the dip warm during parties by using a slow cooker on low heat. It’ll stay gooey and delicious for hours!
