Description

What could be more perfect for Valentine’s Day than these adorable and yummy Valentine Sugar Cookies!


Ingredients

Scale

3 cups all-purpose flour unbleached

2 tsp baking powder

1 cup butter salted, cold & cut into chunks (2 sticks)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

3/4 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond extract

For the buttercream frosting:

1/2 cup butter softened (1 stick)

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp milk or more as needed

For the glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar

3 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp vanilla

12 drops red food coloring

Valentine sprinkles


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Mix flour and baking powder together. Set aside.

3. Cream butter and sugar, then add egg and extracts.

4. Gradually add dry ingredients until dough forms.

5. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into heart shapes.

6. Freeze 5–7 minutes, then bake 10–12 minutes.

7. Cool on rack.

8. For buttercream: beat butter, sugar, vanilla, and milk until creamy.

9. For glaze: mix all ingredients until smooth and dip cookies.

10. Add sprinkles and let dry 1–2 hours.

Notes

Store in airtight container.

Dough can be frozen up to 3 months.
