Description

This quick 15-Minute Lo Mein Noodles recipe combines tender egg noodles, crisp vegetables, and a savory homemade sauce for a satisfying stir-fry dinner.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz dry egg noodles
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1/4 yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cups cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, diced
  • 1 bunch green onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

Instructions

  1. Boil egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente then drain and rinse with cold water
  2. Slice carrots onion and cabbage then dice garlic
  3. Whisk dark soy sauce soy sauce brown sugar water sesame oil corn starch white pepper and oyster sauce in a bowl until smooth
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium high heat
  5. Stir fry carrots onions cabbage and garlic for about 3 to 4 minutes
  6. Add cooked noodles and chopped green onions then toss together
  7. Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles and vegetables
  8. Stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the noodles evenly
  9. Remove from heat and serve hot

Notes

  1. Add chicken shrimp beef or tofu for additional protein
  2. Adjust soy sauce and sugar levels to match your taste preference
  3. Add chili flakes or sriracha for a spicy version
  4. Fresh lo mein noodles can replace dry egg noodles
  5. Cook vegetables briefly to keep a slight crunch
