For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water)
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- repare the Chicken: Pat chicken breasts dry and cut them in half lengthwise.
- First Coating: In one bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another, beat the eggs. In a third, place panko breadcrumbs.
- Double Coat: Dip chicken into flour mixture, then egg, then panko. Repeat for extra crunch.
- Cook the Chicken:
- Frying: Heat oil in a skillet and fry chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), place chicken on a wire rack, and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, and garlic. Bring to a simmer. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
- Combine: Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce or drizzle it over.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Notes
1️⃣ Achieve Maximum Crunch: Double coating is key! Ensure each chicken piece is evenly coated in flour, dipped in egg, and generously covered with panko breadcrumbs for that irresistible crispy texture.
2️⃣ Sauce Timing Matters: Add the honey garlic sauce right before serving to prevent the crispy coating from becoming soggy. Toss lightly or drizzle for the best texture.
3️⃣ Cooking Method Choice: Frying gives the crispiest result, but baking or air frying is a healthier option while still keeping the crunch intact. Adjust based on your preference!
