Description

Sweet, spicy, and irresistibly tender, hot honey baked chicken breasts are the perfect dish to wow your taste buds. A delightful glaze and perfectly cooked chicken make this recipe a must-try!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional for extra heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  • Prepare Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  • Make the Glaze: In a small saucepan, heat the honey over medium heat until runny (about 2 minutes). Add hot sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, and chili flakes. Stir until well combined, then remove from heat. Adjust sweetness or heat as desired.
  • Sear Chicken (Optional): Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken breasts for 2 minutes per side to lock in juices, then transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake Chicken: Bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Glaze the Chicken: During the last 5 minutes of baking, generously brush the hot honey glaze over each chicken breast. For a caramelized finish, broil on high for 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve and Garnish: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Drizzle any remaining glaze over the top and garnish with chopped cilantro or green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Balance the Glaze: Taste your hot honey glaze as you prepare it. Adjust the sweetness or heat by adding more honey or hot sauce. Start small with chili flakes or hot sauce to avoid overpowering the dish.
  • Don’t Overcook the Chicken: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Overcooking will dry out the chicken, while undercooking poses safety risks.
  • Apply the Glaze at the Right Time: For the perfect caramelized finish, brush the glaze on during the last 5 minutes of baking. Broil for 1-2 minutes for added crispiness, but keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
