Hi, I’m Bachir Fasky
I’m the person behind Yumtastic Recipes. I’m a home cook living in Quebec, Canada. I’m not a trained chef: everything I know about cooking started in my family’s kitchen in Morocco.
Where my cooking comes from
I learned to cook from my mother and my grandmother. Growing up, I watched them make the dishes our family ate every day, and the ones saved for special occasions.
When I left home to study in another city, I had to cook for myself for the first time. I started with the recipes I had learned at home, then tried recipes I found online, and little by little I began adding my own touch to them. I never stopped, and that habit is how my recipe sites started.
What you’ll find on Yumtastic Recipes
Yumtastic Recipes is where it all started. It was my first recipe website, and the first recipe went up at the end of 2023. Today it has more than 3,400 recipes, mostly dinners and desserts, along with lunch, breakfast and drink ideas.
These are everyday recipes: the kind of food you can put on the table for your family on a normal weeknight, plus a few treats for the weekend.
A memory from my kitchen
One of the dishes I learned from my mother is Moroccan lentil soup. We simply call it ‘adess at home. It’s a simple, warm dish, and when I make it today it still reminds me of the food we ate at home. You can find my version here: Moroccan Lentil Soup.
How my recipes are made
I want you to know exactly how the content on this site is made:
- The recipe comes from me. I decide the ingredients, the quantities, the cooking method and the preparation steps.
- Cooked at home. I cook and test my recipes at home in Quebec, and my family are my first tasters.
- AI helps with the writing. I use AI tools to help organize and draft the articles, so the explanations are clear and easy to follow.
- The photos are AI-generated. The recipe images on this site are created with AI to illustrate the dish. They are not photos of my own cooking, so your result may look a little different.
- Nutrition facts are estimates. The nutrition information on recipe cards is approximate and can change with the brands and exact amounts you use.
One person behind this site
Until recently, posts on Yumtastic Recipes were published under different author names. Those were pen names, not real people. I’m the only person behind this site, so every post is now published under my name.
There’s no photo of me on this page for now. I’d rather show no photo than a fake one.
I also run Yumtastic Meals, Yummiest Flavor, Viral Healthy Recipes and Recettes de Luxe (in French). Same cook, same kitchen, same way of working.
