Description
Air Fryer Apple Pie Bombs feature tender biscuit dough filled with cinnamon apple pie filling, air fried until golden, dipped in melted butter, and coated with apple pie spice sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 3 teaspoons apple pie spice
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands biscuits, 8-count, not flaky layers
- 1 cup apple pie filling, with apples cut into small pieces
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- Nonstick cooking spray for the air fryer basket
Instructions
- Combine the granulated sugar and apple pie spice in a medium bowl. Set the mixture aside.
- Chop any large apple pieces in the pie filling. Combine the filling with the ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Remove the biscuits from the can and separate each biscuit into two layers to create 16 dough rounds.
- Press each dough round into a circle about 4 inches wide.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of apple filling in the center of each dough circle.
- Pull the sides of the dough over the filling, pinch the edges firmly to seal, and gently roll each portion into a ball.
- Lightly coat the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
- Arrange the sealed balls about 2 inches apart in the basket. Lightly spray the tops.
- Air fry at 350°F for 8 to 9 minutes, or until the biscuit dough turns golden brown and cooks through.
- Carefully remove each apple pie bomb and dip it in melted butter.
- Roll each buttered bomb in the apple pie spice and sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Repeat with the remaining batches and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Cut the apples into small pieces so the dough seals easily.
- Do not use more than 1 tablespoon of filling in each bomb.
- Keep the filling away from the dough edges to create a tight seal.
- Cook the bombs in batches without crowding the air fryer basket.
- Check the first batch after 8 minutes because air fryer cooking times vary.
- Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 300°F for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Freeze fully cooled apple pie bombs for up to 3 months.
