Description

Quick, crisp apple rings coated in cinnamon sugar and air-fried until golden. These warm Air Fryer Cinnamon Apple Rings have a crunchy coating, a tender apple center, and make an easy fall dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples, such as Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady, or Granny Smith
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or finely crushed cornflakes
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Cooking spray
  • Powdered sugar or honey for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  2. Wash and dry the apples, then slice them crosswise into 1/4-inch rings.
  3. Remove the cores with a small round cutter, piping tip, or paring knife.
  4. Pat the apple rings dry with paper towels.
  5. Combine the flour and salt in one shallow bowl.
  6. Whisk the egg and milk together in a second shallow bowl.
  7. Mix the breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes, sugar, and cinnamon in a third shallow bowl.
  8. Coat each apple ring lightly in the flour mixture and shake off the excess.
  9. Dip each floured ring into the egg mixture and allow the excess to drip off.
  10. Press both sides and edges of each ring into the cinnamon crumb mixture.
  11. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  12. Arrange the coated apple rings in a single layer, leaving space between them.
  13. Lightly mist the tops of the rings with cooking spray.
  14. Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  15. Cook in batches as needed to avoid crowding the basket.
  16. Serve warm with powdered sugar or a drizzle of honey, if desired.

Notes

  1. Pat the apple rings dry before coating them so the breading sticks properly.
  2. Use firm apples that hold their shape during cooking.
  3. Slice the apples evenly so all rings cook at the same rate.
  4. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  5. Crushed cornflakes create a crunchier coating, while breadcrumbs create a finer texture.
  6. Check the rings near the 6-minute mark because air fryer models vary.
  7. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  8. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3 to 4 minutes.
  9. These apple rings taste best when served warm on the same day.
