Description
The best American chocolate chip cookies made with soft butter, brown sugar, and rich chocolate pieces.
Ingredients
225 g Butter (room temperature)
210 g Brown sugar
100 g Granulated sugar
2 Eggs (room temperature)
1 tsp Vanilla extract or 1 packet vanilla sugar
350 g All-purpose flour
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Salt
340 g Chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
110 g Chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
1. Cream butter with both sugars until smooth but not airy.
2. Add eggs and vanilla, then mix gently.
3. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
4. Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
5. Fold in chocolate and nuts.
6. Cover dough and chill at least 3 hours or overnight.
7. Let dough rest 45 minutes at room temperature before shaping.
8. Preheat oven to 175°C and line baking tray with parchment.
9. Roll dough into 3 cm balls and place with space between them.
10. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges brown slightly and centers look set.
11. Cool 2 minutes on tray, then move to rack.
12. Store airtight for 1 week or freeze up to 3 months.
Notes
Chilling improves flavor and texture.
Avoid overbaking for soft centers.
