Description
Rich and moist applesauce brownies made without butter. Sweetened with honey and packed with chocolate flavor.

- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk applesauce and honey until combined.
- Add eggs and vanilla and whisk until smooth.
- Add cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold gently until no dry streaks remain.
- Mix in chocolate chips if using.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
- Top with additional chocolate if desired.
- Bake for 22 to 26 minutes.
- Cool completely before slicing into 9 squares.
Notes
- Use room-temperature eggs for best texture.
- Sweetened applesauce will create sweeter brownies.
- Do not overbake for fudgy results.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
