Description

Flaky baked Cajun salmon finished with a creamy avocado lime sauce. This easy, healthy dinner delivers bold spice balanced by fresh citrus and rich avocado flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry and brush lightly with olive oil.
  3. Season evenly with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  4. Place the salmon skin-side down on the baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until flaky.
  5. While the salmon cooks, blend avocado, sour cream, lime juice, cilantro, cayenne, and salt until smooth.
  6. Remove salmon from the oven, rest briefly, and serve topped with avocado lime sauce.

Notes

  1. For a healthier option, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream in the sauce.
  2. Adjust the cayenne pepper to control the heat level.
  3. Do not overcook the salmon to keep it moist and flaky.
  4. The avocado lime sauce can be made up to 2 days ahead and refrigerated.
  5. Marinating the salmon briefly before baking adds extra flavor.
