Description
Tender, juicy chicken coated in a sweet and tangy honey-Dijon glaze, baked to perfection. This easy recipe is perfect for family dinners or meal prepping, offering a flavor-packed and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Place the chicken breasts in the baking dish, ensuring they’re evenly spaced. Generously coat each piece with the honey-Dijon mixture, reserving a little for basting.
- Let the chicken marinate in the dish for 15-20 minutes at room temperature. For deeper flavor, marinate for up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- Bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- In the last 5 minutes of baking, baste the chicken with the reserved glaze for an extra burst of flavor.
- Optional: For a caramelized finish, broil the chicken on high for 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Marination Matters: While 15-20 minutes works, marinating the chicken for up to 2 hours enhances flavor. Plan ahead for the most tender and flavorful result.
- Avoid Overcooking: Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Overcooking dries out the chicken and reduces its juiciness.
- Broil for a Finish: For a golden, caramelized glaze, broil the chicken during the last 2-3 minutes. Keep a close eye to prevent burning and achieve a perfect crust.
