Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- 1 egg (for sealing)
- Oil for frying (or spray for baking/air frying)
Instructions
Cook the Filling:
- In a pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and mix in cream cheese and shredded cheddar. Let it cool.
Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper in a diamond shape.
- Place 2 tbsp of filling in the center.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, tuck in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal the edge with a beaten egg.
Choose Your Cooking Method:
- Deep-Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Air-Fry: Brush with oil and air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place on a baking sheet, spray with oil, and bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping once.
Serve & Enjoy!
- Pair with ranch, sweet chili sauce, or barbecue dip. Serve hot!
Notes
- Balance the Spice Level – Adjust the heat by removing jalapeño seeds for a milder taste or keeping them for extra spice. You can also swap jalapeños for milder peppers like poblanos or bell peppers.
- Seal the Egg Rolls Properly – Use a beaten egg or water to seal the edges tightly to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking. Rolling them tightly also helps maintain their shape.
- Choose the Right Cooking Method – Deep-frying gives the crispiest texture, but air-frying and baking are great alternatives for a lighter version. Brushing with oil before baking or air-frying helps achieve a golden-brown finish.
