Description

This easy Biscuit Pizza Casserole combines refrigerated biscuits, pizza sauce, mozzarella, and favorite toppings in one family-friendly dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 15-ounce jar pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 to cups pizza toppings, such as pepperoni or cooked Italian sausage
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, optional
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, optional
  • Red pepper flakes, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, onions, basil, or spinach, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Open the biscuit cans, separate the biscuits, and cut each biscuit into quarters or smaller bite-size pieces.
  3. Spread the biscuit pieces across the bottom of the dish in a mostly single layer, placing overlapping pieces near the edges.
  4. Spoon the pizza sauce evenly over the biscuit dough without pressing the pieces flat.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella over the sauce, then add pepperoni, cooked sausage, or other toppings.
  6. Add Italian seasoning and Parmesan, if desired.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, checking the center for fully cooked biscuit dough.
  8. Cover loosely with foil if the cheese browns before the center finishes cooking.
  9. Let the casserole rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Cut the biscuit dough into small pieces so the center cooks evenly.
  2. Use cooked and drained sausage rather than raw meat.
  3. Place spinach and other delicate greens beneath the cheese to prevent burning.
  4. For extra insurance against raw dough, prebake the biscuit pieces for 5 to 10 minutes before adding the sauce and toppings.
  5. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  6. Reheat leftovers in an air fryer at 325°F for 4 to 6 minutes or in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes.
