Description

Warm Caramelized Skillet Peaches made with fresh peaches, maple syrup, butter, lemon juice, salt, and vanilla. This easy stovetop peach dessert is ready in about 20 minutes and works beautifully over yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, frozen yogurt, or ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium fresh peaches, pitted and cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Optional: To peel the peaches, plunge them into boiling water for 1 minute, then transfer them to an ice water bath for 5 minutes. Slip off the skins.
  2. Pit the peaches and cut them into even wedges.
  3. Add the peach wedges, lemon juice, maple syrup, and kosher salt to a bowl. Toss gently until the peaches are coated.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
  5. Once the butter melts, add the peach mixture and all juices from the bowl.
  6. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peaches soften and the sauce turns glossy and lightly caramelized.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  8. Serve warm with the caramelized sauce spooned over the peaches.

Notes

  1. Use ripe, fragrant peaches for the best flavor.
  2. Leave the skins on for faster prep and added color, or peel them for a softer texture.
  3. Avoid stirring too often so the peaches have time to caramelize.
  4. If the sauce bubbles too quickly, lower the heat slightly.
  5. Serve over yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes, frozen yogurt, or ice cream.
