Description
Flaky, buttery homemade scones laced with warm chai spices and topped with a maple chai glaze.
Ingredients
12 tbsp very cold unsalted butter
½ cup heavy cream
2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp chai spice blend
½ tsp kosher salt
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tsp chai spice blend
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp heavy cream
1 tbsp maple syrup
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Dice butter into cubes and chill.
2. Whisk cream, 1 egg, and 1 yolk; keep cold.
3. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spice, and salt.
4. Pulse cold butter into dry mix.
5. Add wet mix until dough forms.
6. Shape dough, cut into 8 wedges.
7. Brush with egg white and bake 20 minutes at 400°F.
8. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled scones.
Notes
Serve warm with tea or coffee. Store airtight for up to 2 days.
