Description
Buttery pizza dough wraps seasoned taco meat and melted Colby Jack and cheddar cheese in these quick, family-friendly Cheesy Taco Sticks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1 tube refrigerated pizza dough
- 5 Colby Jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- Salsa, sour cream, or guacamole for serving, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Lightly coat a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles until fully browned.
- Drain the excess fat, return the skillet to the stove, and stir in the taco seasoning without adding water.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and let the seasoned beef cool to room temperature.
- Unroll the pizza dough and gently press it flat.
- Cut the dough in half lengthwise, then make four crosswise cuts to create 10 rectangles.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of cooled taco meat in the center of each dough rectangle.
- Top each portion of meat with one halved cheese stick.
- Fold and roll the dough around the filling, then firmly pinch every seam and end closed.
- Place the sticks seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley in a small bowl.
- Brush the garlic-parsley butter over the tops of the sticks.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
- Let the sticks rest for 2 to 3 minutes, then serve hot with desired taco toppings or dips.
Notes
- Do not add water to the taco seasoning because excess moisture can make the filling runny.
- Cool the taco meat before placing it on the pizza dough.
- Leftover taco meat works well and reduces preparation time.
- Avoid overfilling the dough, and pinch every seam firmly closed.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Freeze individually wrapped sticks for up to 2 months.
- Reheat refrigerated sticks at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for 4 to 6 minutes.
