Description

Cheesy Texas Toast is a delicious, buttery, crispy side dish made with thick slices of bread smothered in garlic butter and melted cheese. It’s the perfect accompaniment to pasta dishes and soups or just be enjoyed as a savory snack.

  • 6 slices Texas toast bread (thick-cut white bread)

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and salt.

  • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice of Texas toast.

  • Sprinkle a mix of mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses evenly on top of each slice.

  • Arrange the toast slices on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden.

  • For an extra golden top, broil for 1-2 minutes, observing.

  • Serve warm, optionally garnished with extra parsley.

Notes

  • You can substitute with your favorite cheese blends like Monterey Jack or provolone.

  • For added flavor, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning on top.
