Description

A comforting one-pan Chicken Sausage Orzo made with tender orzo pasta, savory chicken sausage, fresh broccoli, and rich chicken broth, finished with Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the chicken sausage into even rounds.
  2. Brown the chicken sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, then remove and set aside.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the same skillet and cook until fragrant.
  4. Stir in broccoli florets and cook until slightly tender.
  5. Add orzo pasta and chicken broth, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Cover and cook until the orzo is tender, stirring occasionally.
  7. Return the sausage to the skillet and mix well.
  8. Finish with grated Parmesan, salt, and black pepper, then serve hot.

Notes

  1. Use fully cooked chicken sausage for best texture.
  2. Stir occasionally while the orzo cooks to prevent sticking.
  3. Add a splash of broth when reheating leftovers to restore creaminess.
