Description

Crispy chicken tenders coated in Parmesan and breadcrumbs, topped with marinara and gooey mozzarella. This Italian-inspired dish is perfect for family dinners or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken tenders
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Olive oil (for frying) or cooking spray (for baking)
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the coating: Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and oregano.
  • Bread the chicken: Dip each tender in flour, then egg, and finally the breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly for even coating.
  • Cook the tenders:
    • Fry: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry tenders for 4-5 minutes per side until golden.
    • Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange tenders on a baking sheet, spray with cooking spray, and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway.
    • Air fry: Preheat to 400°F (200°C). Cook tenders for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Add toppings: Spread marinara sauce over each tender and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  • Melt the cheese: Return tenders to the oven (or air fryer) for 5-7 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  • Serve: Garnish with fresh basil and enjoy with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients for Best Flavor: Opt for fresh chicken tenders and high-quality marinara sauce to elevate the taste. Homemade sauce can make the dish even more flavorful.
  • Ensure Even Coating: Press the breadcrumb mixture onto the chicken firmly to create an even, crispy layer. This is key to achieving that golden, crunchy texture.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Pan or Oven: Cook the tenders in batches if necessary to ensure even cooking and crispiness, whether frying, baking, or air frying. Overcrowding can result in soggy tenders.
