Description

Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these cinnamon French toast sticks are a fun and delicious twist on classic French toast. A guaranteed favorite for both kids and adults!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick bread (brioche or Texas toast)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)

Instructions

  • Slice each bread slice into 3-4 even sticks.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  • In a shallow plate, combine sugar and the remaining ½ tsp of cinnamon; set aside.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tbsp butter.
  • Dip bread sticks into the egg mixture, ensuring they’re evenly coated but not soaked.
  • Place coated sticks in the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Repeat with remaining bread, adding more butter as needed.
  • While still warm, roll the cooked sticks in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
  • Serve immediately with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Bread Selection Matters: Use thick, sturdy bread like brioche or Texas toast to prevent the sticks from becoming too soggy when dipped in the egg mixture. Stale bread works best as it absorbs the liquid without falling apart.
  • Cook Over Medium Heat: Maintain moderate heat to ensure the outside crisps up beautifully without burning, while the inside cooks through evenly.
  • Coat While Warm: Roll the French toast sticks in the cinnamon-sugar mixture immediately after cooking for the best adhesion and flavor.
