Description
A cute no-cook Halloween snack craft made with snack bags, clothespins, black cardstock wings, googly eyes, and your favorite kid-friendly snacks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 wooden clothespins
- 12 snack-size zip-top bags
- 12 sheets or pieces black cardstock
- Black washi tape or black craft paint
- Craft glue or hot glue, handled by an adult
- 24 googly eyes
- 6 black pipe cleaners, optional for ears
- 6 cups kid-friendly snack of choice, such as pretzels, crackers, cereal, popcorn, mini cookies, or safely cut fruit
Instructions
- Cover each clothespin with black washi tape, folding the extra tape around the edges, or paint the clothespins black and let them dry fully.
- Draw bat wings on black cardstock, making each wing shape slightly wider than a filled snack bag.
- Cut out the bat wings with scissors.
- Glue one decorated clothespin down the center of each cardstock wing.
- Glue two googly eyes near the top of each clothespin.
- Bend small pieces of black pipe cleaner into bat ears, if using, and glue them near the top.
- Let all glued pieces dry completely.
- Fill each snack bag about halfway with your chosen snack and seal the bag.
- Pinch each filled bag in the center.
- Clip the pinched center into the clothespin so the snack-filled sides spread out like bat wings.
- Adjust the bag and cardstock wings until each bat looks even, then serve.
Notes
- For preschool children, cut grapes and other round foods into safe pieces before packing.
- Use dry snacks for the easiest make-ahead option.
- Check classroom allergy rules before choosing snacks.
- Assemble the bat clips ahead of time and add fresh snack bags the day of serving.
- Adults should handle hot glue, scissors, and small craft pieces for young children.
