Description
This easy cream cheese chicken creates a rich, smooth garlic herb sauce using simple ingredients and cooks in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 large chicken breasts
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
1. Microwave the cream cheese until very soft. Cut into pieces and set aside.
2. Cut chicken breasts in half lengthwise. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
3. Heat butter and oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Transfer chicken to a plate.
4. Reduce heat to medium. Add onions and sauté 5–7 minutes until softened.
5. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
6. Add chicken broth, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until smooth.
7. Return chicken to skillet and warm through. Thin sauce with broth if needed. Season to taste and garnish with parsley.
Notes
Use full-fat cream cheese for the richest sauce.
Thin sauce with extra broth as needed.
Serve with pasta, rice, potatoes, or vegetables.
