  • 1 tsp dried thyme or 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the onions and garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and turn golden brown.
  • Pour in the broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Lower the heat to medium-low and stir in the cream. Cook gently, allowing the sauce to thicken, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the Parmesan cheese (if using) and thyme, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Simmer for an additional 2 minutes to marry the flavors.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm over pasta, chicken, steak, or vegetables.
