- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- Lime wedges for serving
- Optional toppings: sliced avocado, diced tomatoes, Cotija cheese
Instructions
- Slice fish into even portions
- Mix cabbage, cilantro, lime juice, mayonnaise, honey, salt, and pepper to make slaw and set aside
- Combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a bowl
- Dip fish into buttermilk then coat with seasoned flour
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat
- Fry fish for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy
- Transfer fish to paper towels to drain
- Place fish in tortillas and top with slaw and desired toppings
- Serve immediately with lime wedges
