Description
A bold and easy-to-make dish, this Dorito Taco Salad is a fun twist on a classic. Combining seasoned beef, crunchy Doritos, and fresh veggies, it’s perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or chicken, or 1 can black beans for vegetarian)
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 head romaine lettuce, chopped
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 red onion, chopped
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup Catalina dressing (or Ranch)
- 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos, crushed
- Optional: jalapeños, black olives, green onions
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat. Stir in the taco seasoning and simmer until fully cooked. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, start layering your salad: first the chopped lettuce, followed by the cooked beef (or protein of choice).
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes, chopped onion, avocado slices, and shredded cheese over the top.
- Right before serving, crumble the Doritos and sprinkle them over the salad to maintain the crunch.
- Drizzle with Catalina or Ranch dressing and a dollop of sour cream. Top with jalapeños, black olives, and green onions for extra flavor.
- Toss everything lightly and serve immediately!
Notes
- Keep the Doritos Crunchy: Add the crushed Doritos right before serving to maintain their crisp texture and prevent them from getting soggy in the salad.
- Customizable Protein Options: You can easily switch out the ground beef for grilled chicken, black beans, or tofu to suit different dietary preferences, making it flexible for vegetarians or those looking for a lighter option.
- Dressing Versatility: While Catalina dressing is a popular choice for this salad, you can use Ranch, salsa, or even a mix of both to add different flavor profiles, depending on your preference.
