Description

Easy Chocolate Croissants made with buttery puff pastry and rich chocolate for a quick homemade bakery-style pastry that’s perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet all-butter puff pastry, thawed but cold
  • 3 to 4 ounces dark or semi-sweet chocolate bars
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the chocolate bars into short sticks that fit the pastry.
  3. Whisk the egg with the milk to make an egg wash.
  4. Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into even triangles.
  5. Place chocolate near the wide end of each triangle.
  6. Roll the pastry around the chocolate to form croissants.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until puffed and golden.
  9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  1. Keep puff pastry cold for best rise and flakiness.
  2. Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  3. Reheat leftovers in the oven, not the microwave.
