Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet all-butter puff pastry, thawed but cold
- 3 to 4 ounces dark or semi-sweet chocolate bars
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk or cream
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut the chocolate bars into short sticks that fit the pastry.
- Whisk the egg with the milk to make an egg wash.
- Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into even triangles.
- Place chocolate near the wide end of each triangle.
- Roll the pastry around the chocolate to form croissants.
- Brush the tops with egg wash and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Keep puff pastry cold for best rise and flakiness.
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven, not the microwave.
