- 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup French-fried onions
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and drain excess grease.
- Season beef with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In a large bowl, mix uncooked rice, cooked beef, French onion soup mix, beef broth, and sour cream.
- Spread mixture evenly into prepared baking dish and dot with butter.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45 to 50 minutes until rice is tender.
- Remove foil, sprinkle cheese evenly over top, and add French-fried onions.
- Bake uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes until cheese melts and turns lightly golden.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
