Description

Fried Fruit Pies are a delightful treat featuring flaky pastry filled with sweet, spiced peaches or apples, perfect for dessert or a snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 68 tablespoons ice water
  • 2 cups peaches or apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water gradually until dough forms.
  4. Divide dough into two disks and chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Mix peaches or apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  6. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness and cut circles.
  7. Place filling in center and fold into half-moon shapes.
  8. Crimp edges to seal.
  9. Heat oil over medium heat.
  10. Fry pies 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  11. Drain on paper towels.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
