- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 20 corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Oil for frying
- Lettuce, taco sauce, or hot sauce for toppings
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat while crumbling it.
- Stir in taco seasoning and 2 tablespoons of water and mix until the meat is coated.
- Warm tortillas in the microwave with a damp paper towel for about 30 seconds until soft.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 375 degrees.
- Place a spoonful of seasoned meat in the center of a tortilla and fold it in half.
- Hold the folded tortilla with tongs and place it in hot oil until it holds shape.
- Release the taco and fry about 2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Repeat with remaining tortillas and meat.
- Add shredded cheese and toppings before serving.
Notes
- Warm tortillas before frying to prevent cracking.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan so tacos cook evenly.
- Tacos become crispier as they cool slightly.
- Use shredded chicken, turkey, or carnitas as alternative fillings.
