Description

This easy Funfetti Dip is a creamy, no-bake cake batter dessert made with cream cheese, heat-treated Funfetti cake mix, milk, vanilla, whipped topping, and colorful sprinkles. Serve it with fresh fruit, graham crackers, cookies, or pretzels for birthdays, potlucks, and family celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup dry Funfetti cake mix, heat-treated and cooled
  • 1/4 cup milk, plus more as needed
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons rainbow sprinkles, optional, plus more for topping
  • Apple slices, for serving
  • Strawberries, for serving
  • Graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, or waffle crisps, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the dry Funfetti cake mix in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Microwave the cake mix in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until it reaches 165°F.
  3. Let the heat-treated cake mix cool completely.
  4. Add the softened cream cheese and cooled cake mix to a large mixing bowl.
  5. Beat with a handheld mixer on low speed until combined, then continue mixing until smooth.
  6. Add the milk and vanilla extract.
  7. Beat until the mixture looks creamy, scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl as needed.
  8. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping with a spatula.
  9. Fold in the rainbow sprinkles, if using.
  10. Taste and add more cooled cake mix for a stronger flavor or milk for a thinner consistency.
  11. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and top with additional sprinkles.
  12. Serve with fruit, graham crackers, cookies, pretzels, or waffle crisps.

Notes

  1. Heat-treat the cake mix before using because boxed cake mix contains raw flour.
  2. Microwave the dry cake mix in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until it reaches 165°F.
  3. Cool the cake mix completely before combining it with the cream cheese.
  4. Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  5. Stir refrigerated dip before serving and add a splash of milk if it becomes too thick.
  6. Replace the cream cheese with thick vanilla Greek yogurt for a lighter, tangier dip.
  7. Replace the whipped topping with freshly whipped cream if preferred.
  8. Store fruit, cookies, and crackers separately so they do not become soft.
  9. This recipe does not freeze well because the dairy mixture may separate after thawing.
