Description

Warm pull-apart sliders layered with shredded chicken, basil pesto, melted mozzarella, and a savory garlic-parsley butter topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of 12 connected slider rolls
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2/3 cup basil pesto, divided
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Use a serrated knife to slice horizontally through the connected rolls without separating them.
  3. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley in a small bowl.
  5. Spread half of the basil pesto evenly over the bottom rolls.
  6. Layer the shredded chicken evenly over the pesto.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the chicken.
  8. Spread the remaining pesto over the cut side of the top rolls.
  9. Place the top rolls pesto side down over the mozzarella.
  10. Brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over the tops and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  11. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, until the cheese melts and the tops turn lightly golden.
  13. Rest for 3 minutes, cut along the roll seams, and serve warm.

Notes

  1. The recipe makes 12 sliders and serves about 6 people with 2 sliders per serving.
  2. Use shredded rotisserie chicken for faster preparation.
  3. Assemble the sliders several hours ahead and refrigerate them, but add the garlic butter immediately before baking.
  4. To double the recipe, use two packages of rolls and a large rimmed baking sheet or two baking dishes.
  5. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.
  6. Freeze tightly wrapped sliders for up to 2 months.
  7. Reheat refrigerated sliders at 325°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
