Description

Cheesy stuffed garlic bread rolls made with pizza dough, filled with mozzarella, baked until golden, and brushed with a buttery garlic herb topping. Designed to be pulled apart and dipped in warm marinara, they are ideal for parties and game day spreads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1619 oz pizza dough

  • 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut into 1-inch pieces (or 32 Italian blend cheese cubes)

  • ½ tablespoon milk or 1 egg, whisked

  • Flaky salt (optional)

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

  • ¼ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 small garlic cloves, minced (or 1 large clove)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

  • 1 tablespoon chopped basil

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • 1 slice cheese of choice (mozzarella, provolone, or cheddar) for garnish

  • Marinara sauce, warmed, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Cut the cheese sticks into 1-inch pieces to make about 32 chunks.

  • Divide the pizza dough into 32 equal pieces.

  • Press each dough piece into a small rectangle, place a piece of cheese in the center, wrap the dough around it, pinch closed, and roll into a ball.

  • Arrange the dough balls seam-side down on the baking sheet in a football shape, letting them touch lightly.

  • Brush the tops with milk or whisked egg and sprinkle with flaky salt if using.

  • Bake for about 18 minutes, then broil for 2–3 minutes until the tops turn golden.

  • Mix melted butter, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

  • Brush the garlic herb butter over the warm rolls.

  • Cut the cheese slice into thin strips and place on top to resemble football laces.

  • Serve warm with marinara sauce.

Notes

Use pizza dough that is not overly sticky for easier shaping.

Lightly flour hands and work surface if the dough sticks.

Watch closely during broiling to prevent burning.
