Description
This Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteak is a quick and delicious twist on the iconic American sandwich. Featuring seasoned ground beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted cheese, all nestled in a soft hoagie roll, it’s a budget-friendly crowd-pleaser perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese (or 4 slices)
Optional: mushrooms, jalapeños, hot sauce
Instructions
Prep Veggies: Slice the bell pepper and onion thinly.
Sauté Veggies: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the peppers and onions until soft but still slightly crisp. Remove from the skillet.
Cook Beef: In the same skillet, add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
Season: Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Combine: Return veggies to the skillet with the beef. Mix well.
Melt Cheese: Lower heat and add cheese. Stir gently until melted and fully combined.
Assemble: Slice the hoagie rolls and spoon the beef mixture into each. Add an extra cheese slice on top if desired.
Serve Hot: Toast the sandwiches briefly for extra crunch, if desired.
Notes
Use turkey or plant-based ground meat for a lighter option.
For added richness, melt a cheese slice directly on the sandwich after assembling.
Great for meal prep—store filling separately and reheat as needed.
Serve with potato wedges, salad, or steamed veggies.
