Description

Creamy Ground Beef Stroganoff made with egg noodles, seasoned beef, and a homemade sour cream sauce. A fast family dinner ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into crumbles, until browned. Drain excess fat and transfer beef to a plate.
  3. Melt the butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 2 minutes to make a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Slowly whisk in the milk and continue cooking for 5 to 7 minutes, until the sauce turns smooth and creamy.
  6. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  7. Reduce heat to low. Add the cooked noodles and browned beef back to the skillet, stirring until everything is hot and coated.
  8. Gently stir in the sour cream until fully combined. Serve hot.

Notes

  1. Double the recipe if serving hearty appetites or planning leftovers.
  2. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
  3. Reheat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each round. Add a splash of milk if the sauce thickens.
