Description

Sweet, salty, and spookily delicious, these Halloween Pretzel Monster Eyeballs are the perfect treat for any Halloween party. Simple to make, they add a fun and creative twist to your spooky celebrations!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 waffle pretzels
  • 24 Hershey Hugs
  • 24 M&M’s candies (choose your favorite colors)
  • 2 tbsp red sanding sugar
  • 1 tube black decorating gel

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Arrange the pretzels on the baking sheet in a single layer, leaving space between each.
  • Place a Hershey Hug in the center of each pretzel. Pop the tray into the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until the chocolate is soft but not fully melted.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle red sanding sugar over the melted chocolate to give the eyes a “bloodshot” effect.
  • Press an M&M into the center of each Hershey Hug, with the logo side down, creating the base of the “eyeball.”
  • Add details by placing a small dot of black decorating gel in the center of the M&M to create the pupil.
  • Cool and set the treats. Leave them at room temperature or refrigerate for faster setting. Once the chocolate is firm, they’re ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • Watch the Chocolate: Keep an eye on the Hershey Hugs while they’re in the oven. They should be soft enough to press an M&M into but not fully melted. Overheating can cause the chocolate to lose its shape.
  • Work Quickly After Melting: Once you remove the pretzels from the oven, immediately sprinkle the sanding sugar and press the M&M’s into the softened chocolate before it begins to harden.
  • Cool Completely: Allow the treats to set fully before serving or storing. For faster results, place the tray in the fridge for about 15 minutes to ensure the chocolate is firm and decorations stay in place.
