Description

A crispy, golden delight filled with creamy cheese and savory ham. Perfect for snacking, parties, or a light meal—bake or fry to suit your taste!

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheets: 2
  • Thinly sliced ham: 200g
  • Shredded mozzarella or cheddar: 150g
  • Egg (beaten): 1
  • Optional: garlic powder, dried oregano, or sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare oil for frying at medium heat.
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into rectangles approximately 3×5 inches.
  • Lay a slice of ham and sprinkle cheese on each rectangle. For extra flavor, dust with garlic powder or oregano.
  • Roll the pastry tightly from one end to the other. Seal the edges by pinching them together to prevent leakage.
  • For baking: Place the sticks seam-side down on a lined baking tray. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds for a crunchy finish. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • For frying: Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the sticks in batches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dips like honey mustard, spicy ketchup, or ranch.

Notes

  • Seal Edges Properly: Ensure the edges of the pastry are tightly sealed to prevent the cheese from leaking out during baking or frying. Use a bit of water or egg wash as “glue” for a stronger seal.
  • Adjust Cooking Method: For a lighter option, bake instead of frying. Brushing the sticks with egg wash before baking gives them a golden, crispy finish without extra oil.
  • Use Melting Cheese: Opt for cheese that melts well, like mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix, to achieve that gooey, cheesy center. Avoid cheeses that might become too oily or stiff when cooked.
