Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6–8 squares.
  • Make the Cheesecake Filling:

    • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
    • Stir in crushed pineapple and coconut flakes (if using).
  • Assemble the Danish:

    • Spoon filling into the center of each pastry square.
    • Fold edges slightly for a decorative look.
    • Brush edges with beaten egg for a golden crust.
  • Bake to Perfection:

    • Transfer to a baking sheet.
    • Bake for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown.
    • Cool for 5 minutes.
  • Add the Glaze:

    • Mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze.
    • Drizzle over the warm Danish.

Notes

  • Drain pineapple well to avoid a runny filling.
  • Use cold puff pastry for flakier layers.
  • Don’t overfill to prevent spilling while baking.
  • Try variations like adding mango or using Hawaiian sweet rolls.
