Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken tenders or chicken breasts sliced into strips
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Cooking spray or a small amount of oil
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: If using whole chicken breasts, slice into even strips, about 1 inch wide. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
- Prepare the Coating Stations:
- In one bowl, place the flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat the Chicken: Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Cook the Chicken: Arrange the coated chicken tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking oil. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- Avoid Overcrowding the Air Fryer:
Place the chicken tenders in a single layer in the basket. Overcrowding can prevent even cooking and reduce the crispiness. Cook in batches if needed for best results. - Use Panko for Extra Crunch:
Panko breadcrumbs are lighter and create a crunchier coating compared to regular breadcrumbs. For even better results, lightly spray the coated tenders with oil before air frying. - Check the Internal Temperature:
Always ensure the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Use a meat thermometer to check, especially if you’re cooking larger or thicker tenders.
