Description

Homemade Ferrero Rocher brings the luxury of the famous hazelnut chocolate truffles into your kitchen. These creamy, crunchy, chocolate-filled delights are made with simple, everyday ingredients, giving you full control over freshness and flavor. Perfect for gifts, special treats, or just indulging in gourmet chocolate made at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole hazelnuts (for centers)

  • 1/2 cup hazelnut spread (e.g., Nutella or homemade)

  • 1/2 cup crushed wafers (or sugar cones)

  • 8 oz milk or dark chocolate (for coating)

  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts (for rolling)

Instructions

  • Toast Hazelnuts: Preheat your oven to 320°F (160°C). Place whole hazelnuts on a baking tray and toast for 10–15 minutes, shaking the tray halfway through. Once cooled, rub them with a towel to remove the skins. Set aside a few whole hazelnuts for the centers.

  • Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix hazelnut spread, crushed wafers, and ground hazelnuts. Chill for 15–20 minutes to firm up the mixture.

  • Shape the Truffles: Take a spoonful of the filling, flatten it slightly, and place a whole hazelnut in the center. Roll it into a ball and place on a tray lined with parchment paper. Repeat until all the filling is used.

  • Coat with Chocolate: Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler, stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate using a fork or toothpick, allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Roll the dipped truffles in chopped hazelnuts.

  • Chill: Place the coated truffles back on the tray and refrigerate until the chocolate coating is firm.

Notes

  • Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor or milk chocolate for a sweeter version.

  • Substitute hazelnuts with almonds or cashews if desired.

  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate and a vegan hazelnut spread.
