Chewy homemade orange candy made with fresh orange juice and zest, delivering a sweet citrus flavor perfect for gifting or sharing.

Ingredients

  • Fresh oranges (zested and juiced, about 3/4 cup juice)
  • Granulated sugar
  • Light corn syrup
  • Water
  • Unflavored gelatin
  • Unsalted butter
  • Confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Zest the oranges and juice them until you have about 3/4 cup juice.
  2. Combine orange juice, water, sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan and heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bloom gelatin in cold water for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir the gelatin, orange zest, and butter into the hot syrup until fully dissolved.
  5. Cook gently until slightly thickened.
  6. Pour into a lined pan, chill until set, then cut and dust with confectioners’ sugar.

Notes

  1. Use fresh oranges for best flavor.
  2. Do not boil the syrup aggressively.
  3. Dust candy lightly to prevent sticking during storage.
