Description
Honey Butter Chicken is the ultimate comfort dish, blending tender chicken with a sticky, buttery honey sauce. It’s perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions. A true crowd-pleaser that pairs beautifully with rice, vegetables, or bread!
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g boneless chicken (breast or thigh), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional for heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: Season chicken with salt, pepper, and 1 tsp soy sauce. Let it marinate for 20 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a pan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until smooth. Add chili flakes if desired. Set aside.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken pieces until golden brown and fully cooked (about 5–7 minutes per side).
- Combine with Sauce: Pour the honey butter sauce over the cooked chicken. Toss well to coat. Simmer for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions. Serve hot with rice, bread, or roasted vegetables.
Notes
- Balance Sweetness with Savory: Adjust the amount of honey and soy sauce to suit your taste. Lemon juice adds brightness and balances the sweetness, so don’t skip it!
- Avoid Overcooking the Chicken: Sear the chicken over medium heat until golden and just cooked through to keep it tender and juicy. A meat thermometer can help ensure the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Customize for Spice Lovers: For a spicy kick, add chili flakes or sriracha to the honey butter sauce. It complements the sweetness beautifully without overpowering the dish.
