Description
Sweet, savory, and packed with flavor, this Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick and easy dish that’s perfect for weeknight dinners. Tender chicken is coated in a sticky, garlicky honey sauce that pairs wonderfully with rice, noodles, or steamed veggies.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
2 tablespoons rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
1. In a bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and fully cooked, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
4. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes. Pour into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
5. Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
6. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve warm.
Notes
Marinate the chicken in soy sauce and garlic for extra depth.
Swap thighs with shrimp or tofu for variations.
Adjust sweetness by changing the amount of honey.
