Honey Pepper Chicken

  • Author: Olivia Hartwellen
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Description

A delightful blend of sweet and spicy, honey peppered chicken is the perfect choice for weeknight dinners or special occasions. Juicy, tender chicken glazed with a caramelized honey sauce and a kick of black pepper—this dish is a must-try!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken breasts (or thighs, skinless)
  • 3 tbsp honey (raw or unprocessed for better flavor)
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: ½ tsp chili flakes for extra spice

Instructions

  • Rinse and pat dry the chicken with paper towels. Lightly season with salt and a pinch of black pepper.
  • In a small bowl, mix honey, black pepper, soy sauce, minced garlic, and chili flakes (if using). Set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Reduce heat to low and pour the honey-pepper mixture over the chicken. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, occasionally spooning the sauce over the chicken to glaze.
  • Once the sauce thickens and the chicken is fully coated, remove from heat.
  • Serve hot with your favorite side dish and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired.

Notes

  1. Use Freshly Ground Pepper: Always grind black pepper fresh for this recipe to get the most robust flavor and aroma. Pre-ground pepper may lack the intensity needed for the dish.
  2. Adjust the Sweetness and Spice: Tailor the honey and pepper quantities to suit your taste. If you prefer more sweetness, add an extra teaspoon of honey. For more heat, increase the pepper or add chili flakes.
  3. Cook Chicken Evenly: Ensure the chicken is of uniform thickness for even cooking. Pound thicker parts lightly or slice into thinner fillets if needed to avoid undercooked centers.
