Ingredients
For the Dough:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/4 cup melted butter
For the Cherry Filling:
2 cups fresh or frozen cherries (or canned cherry pie filling)
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk and mix it with yeast and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to become foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add eggs, melted butter, and the milk-yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes, then cover and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the cherry filling. Combine cherries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a pan. Cook until thick, then let it cool.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle. Spread the cherry filling evenly over the dough, then roll it up and cut into 1-inch slices.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each. Cover and let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls cool, make the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over the warm rolls.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
You can use canned cherry pie filling for a quicker option.
For a thicker glaze, substitute cream cheese.
These rolls are best served warm, but you can store them for a few days or freeze them for later.
