Description

Flaky crescent roll pinwheels filled with creamy pepper jack cheese, cream cheese, and diced jalapenos, then brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces pepper jack cheese, freshly shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces canned diced jalapenos, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 16 ounces refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Add the shredded pepper jack, softened cream cheese, drained jalapenos, and salt to a mixing bowl.
  3. Stir until the cheese mixture looks smooth and evenly combined.
  4. Unroll both cans of crescent roll dough and press the perforations together to form two solid rectangles.
  5. Divide the cheese mixture between the dough rectangles and spread it evenly, leaving a narrow border around the edges.
  6. Starting at a short side, roll each dough rectangle tightly into a log.
  7. Use a serrated knife to slice each log into 8 rounds, creating 16 rolls total.
  8. Arrange the rolls cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
  9. Combine the melted butter and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  10. Brush the garlic butter evenly over the tops and exposed edges of the rolls.
  11. Bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until puffed and deep golden brown.
  12. Let the rolls cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Drain the diced jalapenos thoroughly to prevent a soggy filling.
  2. Keep the crescent dough chilled until you are ready to roll it.
  3. For milder rolls, replace the pepper jack with Monterey Jack cheese.
  4. For more heat, add finely chopped pickled jalapenos or a pinch of cayenne.
  5. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  6. Reheat the rolls in an air fryer at 400°F for 5 minutes.
  7. To reheat in the oven, bake at 400°F for 6 to 8 minutes.
  8. To reheat in the microwave, heat for 30 to 60 seconds.
  9. The cheese filling can be prepared and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  10. For crisp edges on every side, bake the rolls separately on a parchment-lined sheet pan for 10 to 12 minutes.
