Description

A rich and indulgent Southern classic, Kentucky Bourbon Pie is packed with gooey chocolate, crunchy nuts, and a hint of bourbon for depth. This dessert is the perfect treat for holidays, gatherings, or any time you’re craving a sweet, nutty delight.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  • Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, bourbon, vanilla extract, flour, and salt until smooth.
  • Add the Goodies: Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
  • Assemble the Pie: Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
  • Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, until the filling is set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  • Cool & Serve: Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!

Notes

1️⃣ Bourbon Substitute: If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, replace the bourbon with an extra teaspoon of vanilla extract for a rich flavor without the alcohol.

2️⃣ Prevent a Soggy Crust: To keep the crust crisp, blind bake it for 10 minutes before adding the filling, or brush it with a beaten egg to create a protective layer.

3️⃣ Checking for Doneness: The pie should have a slight jiggle in the center when removed from the oven. Overbaking can result in a dry filling, so allow it to set while cooling.
