Ingredients
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
- Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, bourbon, vanilla extract, flour, and salt until smooth.
- Add the Goodies: Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
- Assemble the Pie: Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
- Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, until the filling is set but slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool & Serve: Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!
Notes
1️⃣ Bourbon Substitute: If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, replace the bourbon with an extra teaspoon of vanilla extract for a rich flavor without the alcohol.
2️⃣ Prevent a Soggy Crust: To keep the crust crisp, blind bake it for 10 minutes before adding the filling, or brush it with a beaten egg to create a protective layer.
3️⃣ Checking for Doneness: The pie should have a slight jiggle in the center when removed from the oven. Overbaking can result in a dry filling, so allow it to set while cooling.
